  • Live a life according to your soul

Live a life according to your soul

We humans often tend to align our life to external expectations. We yearn for validation and try to live a life of which we think is best for us. However, most often we follow patterns and goals that are imposed on us by society, by our family, and by fellow humans. As a result, we might feel like robots. At least I did for a long time. Replacable and without a deeper sense of meaning.

Once we truly realize that each of us is very unique we can slowly leave behind this rat race and the permanent longing to be like others, whom we think are successful and happy.

The photocopier was certainly not God’s idea, because He only produces originals!

    — Deborah Rosenkranz

True happiness doesn’t come to you by chasing status symbols or being like others, but by living a life that is true to and in sync with your unique and innermost being. That is, you don’t need to buy a house or a shiny car, just because others do. If it truly makes you happy you can, but it is not a necessity any more. Then you are free to pursue things which make your soul really come to life. Things which are truly fulfilling because they resonate with you; these might be hobbies, talents, skills, passions, and people (who don’t pressure you into societies’ standards).

If you tap into your soul, you will radiate joy and you will find that there’s a hidden and previously unknown source of energy within you. Life will become more satisfying and beautiful. Your environment might notice such a shift by your good vibes and contagious authenticity. Your eyes might start to sparkle, you might experience goose-bumps more frequently, and you will find that there’s much more to life than you would have expected.

But please keep in mind to stay deeply humble and thankful for the change you are experiencing. Always remember your past and your time in the rat race. You might not have left it 100% behind, but once you start to take your first steps, you can (and this is my hope) inspire others to follow your example and leave any notion of peer pressure and societal expectations behind.

  • On Karma and the notion of eye for eye

On Karma and the notion of eye for eye

I’d like to add a thought to the notion of karma – that bad actions translate to the exact same (bad) experience coming your way. I believe that the universe (God) is smarter and more benevolent than that. Let me give you an example.

In the book “Life between Life”, Joel Whitton, a regression therapist, describes the life circumstances of a man who, in a previous incarnation as a roman soldier, haunted and then tortured jews to death by riding over them with his horse. Now you could think that he in turn would reincarnate as a minority member and be tortured to death by someone else, but no. The solution is more elaborate than that.

In his current life, which is linked to the incarnation as a roman soldier, he in turn is a jew and working as a surgeon. As a jew living in the 20th century, he is not haunted, but he is denied access to the working place where he’d like to work because of his origin. So he is having the experience of the minority member who is discriminated. And now, as a surgeon (a job he sometimes dislikes), he is mending broken bodies, thereby making the world a better place AND balancing out the destruction of bodies that he has comitted in his previous life. Once he learned about this, he could better cope with his sporadic aversion to his job, because he now saw sense in what he did.

So see. If he in turn would simply be killed, he would have payed of his debt, but the world at large wouldn’t have been much better off. Now, by having the opportunity to balance out his karma through the positive actions of working as a surgeon he is helping his fellow people and thereby positively impacting the world around him. A much better solution in my opinion and a prime example that karma is more than just “eye for eye, and tooth for tooth”.

I can attest to this way that karma works by my own experiences. You have to face consequences, but these can be laid out in a constructive way so that the net result is worth more than simple “revenge”. It’s more like learning from your past actions and then – hopefully and with help from above – taking a turn for the better in this life. Ultimately, using your free will, you steer the chariot and decide which way you want to go and how you want to deal with your karma.

I am not saying that it has to be this way all the times, but it can be and has been.

  • Trust your gut – as seen on Quora

Trust your gut – as seen on Quora

This is a short, but still important post for a change. I previously wrote about the importance of your gut feelings, because they show you the right way in your life.

In sync with this and as a confirmation, I came across this beautiful statement about the same principle (found on Quora).

If a business deal feels bad, I don’t do it – even if it shines on paper. If a person seems deceptive, I don’t trust them – even if all the rational evidence seems otherwise. On a positive note, if something feels absolutely right – I dive in 100%.

    Julie Gurner

If had more than a share of these bad experiences myself. Only a few of these people were really deceptive. Most of them were very kind. But still, often my gut was telling me that the outcome would not be quite right.

In some business meetings for example, my gut told me that one of two persons sitting in front of me would be a GOOD match. Whereas my gut told me, that the other person WOULDN’T be such a good match. And his gut probably also told him the same.

And this tricky combination then turned out not in favor for all of us. The result was quite some hardship and stress.

So please. All of you out there. Spare yourself these kind of struggles. Instead, follow your gut and listen to it when it longs for something else!

It will lead you to a more peaceful life – just keep going in it’s direction. And you will feel that things can and will get easier over time. There are many people who feel that way and have experienced it.

Good luck on your journey and comment if you like.

  • Winter depression? Here’s ONE SINGLE contributing factor with an easy fix: Vitamin D

Winter depression? Here’s ONE SINGLE contributing factor with an easy fix: Vitamin D

Where does Winter Depression come from?

Have you ever heard of the term “Winter Depression” or “Seasonal Affective Disorder“? Most people know that they are feeling less energetic during the darker time of the year. But they might – as I have been for a long time – NOT know, where this can simply come from.

Your energy levels largely depend on Vitamin D, which is produced by your skin through our beautiful sunshine. During winter there’s little sunshine, so you get less Vitamin D. And with a lack of Vitamin D you feel less energetic, depressed, and you might sleep for a long time, but still feel tired.

So it’s easy to see where this can come from. And while many people know their mood swings, unfortunately many, many of us don’t know the reason for this in winter. Some people do. And this should get more by the time.

The American Academy of Pediatrics tells us about it.

For little babies and their mothers, a lack of Vitamin D is a KNOWN health issue. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that ALL babies (and their mothers) receive Vitamin D supplements.

To not only protect against energy lows, but also other bodily deficiencies that can arise out of a lack (bone growth problems for example). Here’s a good article, containing information for Vitamins for babies in general. Not only Vitamin D.

Scroll down to Vitamin D to find out more.

    So what can you do?

First, if you are feeling like you are depressed – independent of the time of the year -, you can have your Vitamin D Level checked through a bloodtest. For ideal treatment, seek a health practitioner and ask him to have it checked via the 25(OH)D test. This is the only reliable indicator as to whether your body rely has enough Vitamin D.

Once that is done, he can then determine how low your Vitamin D level is and what you can do to fill it up to a normal level again.

For me, the solution was very easy. I had to take 10 drops of organic Sunflower Oil (like this one here) over a period of 10 days. This filled up my depot and I was feeling more energetic. Day by day. And this was not during winter, but in early spring season.

Don’t take this on your own though. Your health practitioner needs to find the right dosis for you! And he can also determine what other organic factors might be contributing.

So what did Vitamin D do for me!

Before I had my Vitamin D deficiency diagnosed I was not only feeling energetically low, but also had pale skin. This was a BIG problem. Let me tell you why?

With a pale skin, you avoid sunshine, because it quickly burns your skin. So: no Vitamin D. Lack of sunshine. Lack of Vitamin D, etc. You get the idea, right?

After a rather short time of Vitamin D treatment, my skin texture changed. My skin got browner with very little exposure to sunshine. And this was an upwards trend. Today I have a milde skin tone and can enjoy the sunshine for a couple of hours without sun burn.

I needed to stop supplementing though, because my Vitamin D levels were to high.

Please have your Vitamin D checked regularly.

So if you are feeling emotionally too high (which is then the opposite of depression) and in general: have your Vitamin D levels checked again every once in a while. Your health practitioner can then tell you, which dosis you need – if any at all.

Currently, I don’t need Vitamin D over the summer and will have it checked before the winter. My doctor will then know whether my depot is high enough to get me through the winter without treatment.

This is easy, isn’t it? I like that!

Give it a try yourself and let me know how it worked for you.

  • Value yourself, value your fellow humans

Value yourself, value your fellow humans

I was a lone fighter for a long time. Being a lone fighter is hard. For yourself and for your environment. It took me many years of hardship to come to a beautiful and liberating realization.

You are totally not alone. There are many, many more people helping you along the way. You just have to be open and see that they are there and that they are supporting you.

This starts small. What would you be without your family? Without your mother who gave birth to to you and your father – both of whom cared for you. Your siblings and childhood friends who also supported you. With whom you cuddled, played, laughed, had arguments, and experienced exciting adventures.

Then, as you come into adulthood, this grows really bigger. You can start to see people who were there a long time before and carried you along the way.

Your doctors, teacher, clothing makers, farmers and food makers, the people who build houses, roads, and more. All the great thinkers, writers, poets, artists, and musicians who play your favorite music after a tiresome day. 😊

Not to forget the countless generations before us who built the societies, cultures, and technological advancements that we can profit. I mean would you still want to chart the wild ocean to travel from Europe to America – or vice versa. Like Columbus did. Hey, I mean this is really tiresome and dangerous.

No, today you can hop onto a plane, enjoy some in flight entertainment and Asian cuisine along the ride. Hey, how cool and relaxed is that?

There’s a saying that puts this into simple and humbling words.

We are only dwarfs standing on the shoulders of giants.

But please, come to the realization that everyone, including you, is important. Each one a part of a gigantic and beautiful puzzle that spans the ages and currently includes over 7 billion people.

To give you an easy example. What would Trump or other Politicians be without their tailor? Could you imagine them standing naked in front of the crowd. Or without their farmers providing them with food. They would starve, as powerful as they might feel. They depend on you.

So even if you feel like a tiny farmer or tailor. You have something valuable to contribute. The main and most important thing is that you are happy doing what you are doing and that it fills your heart with joy – and that you make enough money for a living. Money should be means to an end, not the motivating factor.

If you are currently not happy. There are ways out of this tightness and dissatisfaction. This doesn’t happen overnight, but gets easier over time and the more you start to open up to helpful people. The most powerful tool that each of us possesses is our gut. See this article for more

And as always. Please comment if you have any questions!

    Take care, Sebastian

  • Give Astrology a try – it’s totally worth it.

Give Astrology a try – it’s totally worth it.

In reaction to my first post on Astrology, a follower named Hans on my blog’s Facebook page reacted irritated and told me that it doesn’t work in his oppinion.

I can’t blame him, because I was a skeptic for a long time, too. In reaction to his comments, let me share with you how I came in touch with Astrology and how it developed for me over the years.

First, my dear mother had a natal birth chart analysis done for me, when I was a young kid. I don’t remember that I read it back then, but I kept it in a folder for over 30 years. Some years ago, I came back to it again and found content that very much resonated with me.

So, I feel, you don’t have to understand why or how Astrology works. There are expert for that. But, you can simply have someone else create an analysis for you and then see, what rings true for you at that point in time.

And as I said, sometimes it can take years for you to find those hidden gems. An Astrologer recently told me, that a birth chart analysis can be a beautiful companion over the course of your life. And that it’s only natural – just like it is with books – that one only takes a couple of insights away each now and then.

To give you an example: I recently had an analysis done for me which was around 20 pages long. At this point in time, I mainly took away three important lines that showed me something that I found very helpful. And I will get back to the report at another point in time in the future to find out more.

What I want to say by that is, that you don’t have to start out big. Go with whatever feels right to you, but please 🙏😇 … just be open that there might be some value in it, even if you can’t see it right away.

Regarding good astrologers. Here comes a list of ones that I find useful. You can have a look at their websites and pick the one who feels right for you at the moment.

So here’s the list. English ones first:

    And now the German ones:

  • The beauty and necessity of new beginnings

This is a personal story, but one that doesn’t only relate to me, but to many of us. So I think, it’s rather important to share it with you. Because only if we open up to the world – meaning the right people, please don’t open up to strangers who might hurt you – can we start to heal each other and make our journeys easier.

So, here’s the story: I’ve been running in the corporate “hamster wheel” for about 15 years. Close to the end of this period, my body started shouting louder and louder that there was something wrong – our body talks to us, we just have to listen.

I had some people in my life who pushed me further along this hard road. This was important for some time, but then I ran into a brick wall.

My body shouted S.O.S. on many channels. Not over night, but steadily increasing over the years. The pains got stronger and stronger and finally I ran into a standstill – too many of them to explain here. Finally too much to handle them on my own.

Then, luckily people came into my life – some of them were already there, thanks to those who I mean 🙏😘 – who showed and reflected to me that I was under way too much pressure and stress. This sort of “mirroring” is essential … so, listen to the people who point you towards your “issues” and please, don’t ignore them. As I opened up to these people, I slowly but steadily understood that I was in a situation that just didn’t serve me any longer.

So, thanks to the advice of my experienced general practitioner, I went into psychoanalysis (thank you Mr. Freud and more importantly C. G. Jung – they did important groundwork in the field of psychology). In this therapy setting, I finally found a place where there was NO pressure… What a relief, I can tell you. With the wise and caring old lady, who was my therapist, I could simply be myself; with all my perceived flaws. And she started to show me the way towards freedom.

I mean … depression (from which I suffered at that point) is not a flaw. It’s a desperate cry of the soul, signaling that it suffers from to much pressure or wrong circumstances which drag you down. So please, don’t judge people with depression. They first need understanding and then HELP to get out of their situation.

Don’t get me wrong, too much understanding doesn’t serve them either. They need to show some effort, too. Things don’t happen on their own. But the meaning of depression, is – at first – simply that … “Get out of the pressure” .. de – pression.

So a couple of months into therapy, I told me therapist that everything I ever wished for was vanishing. I was really desparate. Then she told me something very import and hope instilling that will stay with me forever:

Sebastian, yes, your old dreams are falling apart …. but – when you keep going in the right direction – (see my post on the importance of gut feelings) then new dreams and hopes will appear.

The wise old therapist lady (thank you, dear helper in dark times)

Back then, in this phase of darknes,s that sentence was an important lighthouse for me. And she was right. After a challenging but worthwhile journey, I got stronger and stronger by the years. The darkness started to fade away and what my therapist told me … became truth. 😊 New dreams – ones that I didn’t even had in mind back then – started to appear and still do.

The inspiring author and teacher Rebecca Campbell writes about this in her book “Light Is the New Black“. She hit a similar – but different 😉 – brick wall and also after a journey, could let go of the stuff that kept dragging her down.

And Rebecca is absolutely not the only one. There are many, many more on this planet (lot’s more than you might think … you are NOT alone). This pattern of crisis and then finding hope, is a very common life pattern among us people. American author and spiritual writer Richard Rohr perfectly describes this pattern in his excellent book “Falling Upwards“.

He also says, that when you slide into a crises, it’s time to leave the bad stuff behind and let the good stuff come in. So the downfall – in reality – is not a failure of yours, but a necessary phase which want’s to show you (big time): “Hey please wake up my dear. There’s bad stuff in your life that no longer serves you! Let it go!”.

Richard Rohr says, that when you get rid of this junk (which doesn’t happen over night, but it does, when you keep at it), then new and helpful things will start to come your way.

So please, if you are stuck, seek help and keep going in the right direction. There’s hope and a better life – full of new dreams – waiting for you!

Trust me. I myself have been through such challenging times. And this is why I feel the need to share this story with you. Because, owing to my journey, I now know that there’s help available and better times are possible. You just have to walk your path. Trust your gut, it will guide you.

    Yours, Sebastian

  • God totally loves atheists, too!

    God totally loves atheists, too!

Somewhere I picked up that God loves atheists, too. Because, remember this: His main concern for people is that they are good to themselves and then to others. Because only if you can accept, value, appreciate, and love yourself, you can then truly love (and accept) your fellow human beings. So a loving and thus caring atheist serves God better than a narrow-minded religious person who doesn’t respect others.

So this message of “self-love” (and acceptance) is rather important to remember for all of us. This is because this message should remind us of the following: You shouldn’t force other people to believe in God, Allah, Manituh (or whatever name is your favourite).

Care about yourself first – not in a self-absorbed way, but in a tender, accepting way. Radiating from inner love within, out to others. Then you will truly find God. Because he first wants and needs to talk to you. Go within, first.

    Taken from here: https://www.pinterest.de/pin/211880357448402764/?lp=true

Thus, all of us should remember that this journey inwards is highly individual. It totally depends on the person in question – everyone carries a different “essence” so to say. I have written on the topic of diversity and indiviuality here before. See this or this post (or click the “diversity tag” on the right).

So, if you then consider that each person (and his journey) is different you could also then realize that many people – quite more than you might think, to be honest 🙂 – have already found God.

They did so simply by seeing that there is some kind of order and driving power in this world. They just may use a different name for it than you do. They could call it “universe” (my ex-spouse does so), “universal power”, “balancing force” (as above so below), or maybe a completely different name.

But such kind and caring people have noticed that there’s more to this universe than we can grasp. It’s like electrictity. You can’t see electricity … BUT you can see that your lightbulb lights up, your refrigirator keeps humming along, your stove gets hot, etc. You get the idea, right?!

So please, please, … relax and focus on the good in you and your fellow beings.

    Namaste 🙏 …. Sebastian

  • Let’s rock (and heal) this planet

These days I got a few powerful lines from a loved one close to me. These currently fit 1000% on my life situation and also generally on the life journey of us humans.

Before I post these (see the end of this post) something important: What surprised me the most about these helpful lines was, that they came from someone who is quite a bit YOUNGER than me.

And now a clear and somewhat in-depth message (it’s gonna get interesting, so stay with me :))

I notice more and more that we can learn a lot from all (!) humans – especially the younger ones and the children. Not only from the elderly – many of whom unfortunately are still trapped in narrow patterns and sadly do not fully participate in life.

I have the feeling that the current generation is awake, that it has a clear view of the things that have our world in their dark grip (sick power apparatuses … politics, economics and church come to mind) and these young people can – and hopefully will – thoroughly shake those obsolete apparatuses and create a “new” world. Let me say to you: You got my unlimited support!

Everyone should do their part to ensure that our world 🌎 and people can finally heal. 🙏💫

And now the helpful lines that I got. They are more subtle but led me to write this post.

“Yes, accepting and going with the river is the greatest art in life, and for that you need consciousness first, to understand who you are and what you need to balance yourself, and then you can do the transformation.”

In that sense, find yourself, seek the help you need (you can’t do this on your own) and then start flooding the world with positive energy. All of you are needed with the power that waits within you! 😍

    Take care, Sebastian

  • Let your life be a message!

Okay, this is gonna be a rather short post for a change, but something just clicked. I found the following quote on Facebook and it resonated deeply with me. See the quote picture below.

Image may contain: sky, outdoor, nature, water and text

It’s taken from BrainyQuote’s cover photo – which can be found here – and let me share with you what I thought and wrote down in response to it.

As if I were asking for it, another fine message comes along. This is why it clicked for me. My intended life message so to say.

I want to inspire people around me. Being an example rather than a bossy leader. I don’t like bossy people, who boss other people around and treat them badly.

Your life message is likely a different one. Reason being: everyone is a unique human being – see this post on human diversity – and thus has something different and valuable to contribute.

Your gut will show you the way to your contribution. See this previous post on the importance of following your gut and why this can lead to an easier life.

So, please, let this sink for a while – or a couple of years 😉 – and get in touch with me if you want to know more about this idea. Maybe I can share some helpful thoughts with you.

    Take care 🙏, Sebastian
